Some great websites on NYS budget and policy analysis websites (caution: can raise your blood pressure)
http://www.manhattan-institute.org/ This has a wealth of resources on the NYS budget, spending and policy. The MI websites tab on their main page has many budget-related items and is worth a first look IMO. Below are some of the sub-pages/websites that link from the Manhattan Institute for Policy Research.
http://www.seethroughny.net Allows you to inspect payrolls, contracts, expenditures and more. Most recent payroll data is 2009, 2010 isn’t up yet.
http://www.empirecenter.org/ Directed primarily at policymakers, but also generally informative.
Sunshine Review (for NYS) – Good dedicated to budget transparency.
Here are some of my favorite Liberty and Libertarian websites.
Staten Island Libertarian Party - Check us out, get involved. Commentary, events and candidate information.
Ron Paul’s website – Ron Paul has arguably done more to advance the cause of Liberty and Libertarianism than anyone else in my generation.
Serf City – Focuses on local as well as state and national Libertarian issues. Also comes in print format.
The Daily Bell – A great site dedicated to Libertarian and free market thinking. Published out of Switzerland.
Call for Liberty – Blog for Ron Paul’s Call for Liberty.
The Freeman – Another Liberty minded site.
My top three favorite economic websites:
Global Economic Analysis – Mike Shedlock’s excellent blog on investing, markets and the effects of government (and a proud Libertarian).
Ludwig Von Mises Institute – Learn about sound economics and more. A must read for anyone who wants to know how economies really work.
Zero Hedge – Simply the best financial reporting on the web. An antidote to the financial MSM and government misinformation.
